Andrew and I had a relaxing weekend watching Ollie and taking him to all our favorite spots— Monterreys, our favorite Mexican restaurant, Rick’s our usual lazy Saturday brunch, and Tutti Frutti, the best froyo in town. On our weekly Marshalls trip, Andrew found this really cute tank that just so happened to fit Ollie perfectly. It reads: Hand over the treats and nobody gets hurt.
Hope you all had a nice weekend too!

Valentine’s Day Part 3

Valentine’s Day has gotten a lot of attention this year, despite my adamant claims that it is a “bogus” holiday. Since we were busy celebrating Andrew’s birthday last weekend, (and he was still recovering from a terrible, hacking cough), we decided to do a belated Vday celebration this weekend.

We borrowed Ollie again this weekend, and took him to Parker and Otis for brunch to get our favorite breakfast BLTs (image from Google Images).

They have an outdoor seating area that’s dog-friendly, and there were a few other furry friends there that morning. He was such a good boy that we took him on a walk around Brightleaf afterwards.

That evening, we headed to Vin Rouge for dinner, which was fantastic!! (These pictures are all from their website since we were silly and forgot to take ANY pictures, despite the pound of makeup that I was wearing). In the daylight, the restaurant doesn’t seem all that glitzy…

…but in the evening, by candlelight, everything has a golden glow. We sat in this room, which was very cozy and romantic.

Based on Yelp reviews, I chose the Onion Soup and Macaroni and Cheese (with gruyere and bacon!!). Both were heavenly, but very filling!

Andrew had the hanger steak with blue cheese butter and frites!

All in all, a perfect date spot!

The next morning, we went to Mint in Chapel Hill for their lunch buffet, and stumbled across a nice surprise- bottomless mimosas on the house! $12/person for all you can eat DELICIOUS Indian food, and unlimited booze?? Count me in! (This was just plate #1).

After recovering from a massive food coma (and champagne-induced naptime), we decided to skip dinner and JUICE instead! More on that later :).

XO,

Sydney

PS- my guy surprised me with a massage, facial and pedi! Best vday ever!!!

Instagram weekend recap

Oh hello! It’s been quite a while since my last post, so I thought I’d show you what’s been going on over here. I actually drove down to Durham this weekend with my roommate to see some of our friends, and of course visit our boyfriends.

Friday night started off with a bang at Andrew’s favorite Mexican restaurant, Monterreys. Delicious food, margaritas muy fuerte, and giant beers…what more could a girl ask for?

We followed it up with some dancing at Kildares in Chapel Hill…a nice “one, two punch” as Andrew likes to call it!

Saturday morning, we had Tutti Frutti for breakfast/early lunch before heading over to Andrew’s parents house to borrow the puppy for the weekend.

The original plan was to take him to Guglhupf for some sunning, eating, and studying, but by the time we got there, it was already pretty late. Here we are, all bundled up and waiting for our food to arrive.

We had a low-key night with lots of Jersey Shore (which I had never watched before) and Rockin’ Rio Rancho Pizza from Tomato Jakes (sooo good!). Andrew also got his early birthday present- a Michigan pillow pet named Brady, and pillow cases to match the duvet in the picture (that I got him for Christmas).

The following day, Andrew told me that he knew the perfect place to take Ollie for a walk, but that it was a surprise. After a detour through Duke Forest, we ended up very close to my friends’ house. Unable to put two and two together, I pointed out that we were really close to their house, and directed him towards their street. He asked if I wanted to see if they were home so that they could come walk Ollie around with us. When I knocked on the door, everyone jumped out and yelled “Surprise!” It was a surprise brunch for me!

Adria and Joel made brunch pizzas and dessert pizza (and Whitney made the homemade pizza crusts). I seriously have the best friends EVER!! Everything was so delicious that we didn’t remember to take pictures until afterwards.

We ended the perfect afternoon with a stroll through Duke Gardens with Ollie, and then Jen and I headed back to the cold.

Hope you all had a lovely and relaxing weekend as well!

Dog-sitting Weekend Recap

Andrew’s parents asked him to dog-sit and house-sit this weekend, and we had a BLAST! I had such a good time with the pups, and can’t wait to have one of my very own.

We took the boys on a long walk in Downtown Chapel Hill and on UNC’s campus. Isn’t Andrew super cute with his two little white fluffies?

This one’s Ollie. He’s the chonker.

This one’s Ziggy, my little shadow. We had some quality bonding time this weekend. I didn’t even mind too much when he started scratching at my head to be let out at 6AM in the morning.

He even napped on my lap while I studied. What a cutie!!

Hope your weekend was equally fluffy!
